Colambo narrates his arrival at the abode of Old Mother Hubbard. The old lady tries to keep her dog Bootsy on his leash while the sheep detective asks his usual round of questions. The missing item is a bone, and Colambo accuses Bootsy of being the culprit. Old Mother Hubbard stumps him when she reveals the cupboard was bare (and Bootsy lacks a key).
It turns out Old Mother Hubbard left the bone on the deli counter at the market. She goes off to fetch the bone and asks Colambo to dogsit Bootsy for her. As the announcer declares the crime solved, Colambo is backed against the cupboard by the dog and screams for help as the camera irises out
