The Muppet Show guest star
episode 102
Conniestevens

Connie Stevens (b. 1938) was an actress and singer who became a teen idol of the 1960s. She guest starred on The Muppet Show episode 102, where she sang "Close to You," with Kermit the Frog and Fozzie Bear, and "A Teenager in Love," backed by the Mutations.

After a few movie and TV parts in the late fifties, Stevens became a regular on Hawaiian Eye (1959-1963) as Cricket Blake, a role which also showcased her singing. This led to hit singles, dueting on the novelty song "Kookie, Kookie (Lend Me Your Comb)" and then her solo "Sixteen Reasons." By 1968, she shifted primarily to nightclub performances (especially in Las Vegas).

On screen, she remained a frequent presence on the talk and variety show circuit, including several Bob Hope specials, Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In, The Merv Griffin Show, Hollywood Squares, and Dinah! Later acting roles often traded on her sixties past, such as Grease 2, Back to the Beach (with Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello), and a guest spot on Baywatch (as Pamela Anderson's Vegas showgirl mother).

She is the mother of actress Joely Fisher.
