"Cuanto Le Gusta" is a song first recorded by Carmen Miranda and The Andrews Sisters in 1947. Miranda subsequently performed the number in the 1948 film A Date with Judy.
On The Muppet Show, the song was performed by Miss Piggy and a chorus of Spanish-themed pigs in episode 210. Piggy is upstaged mid-song by a trumpeter who performs upside-down. At the end of the number, she is lifted into the air by the other pigs who promptly drop her as they take their bows. In a later scene in the same episode, Piggy is heard telling someone, "How should I know what 'cuanto le gusta' means?"
Notes[]
- In the 2005 book It's Not Easy Being Green, Dave Goelz talks about Jim Henson's love of upstaging and, in particular, filming this song:
- In the 1993 book Jim Henson: The Works, on page 121, Dave Goelz also recounts the story about filming this song:
- "Cuanto le gusta" means "whatever she likes". With an accent over the 'a' -- "Cuánto le gusta!" -- it would mean "how she likes it!".
