Dabney Coleman (1932-2024) was a veteran character actor who played Martin Price in The Muppets Take Manhattan.
Coleman began his acting career in film and television in the sixties and seventies (including a deputy fire chief in The Towering Inferno, recurring on That Girl, and guest roles on Bonanza, The Mod Squad, and The Mary Tyler Moore Show). He rose to prominence with his turn as slimy boss Franklin Hart in 9 to 5 (opposite Lily Tomlin, Dolly Parton, and Jane Fonda) and played similar comedic sleazebags in eighties and nineties movies including Tootsie, Modern Problems (with Chevy Chase), Dragnet, and The Beverly Hillbillies (as Mr. Drysdale).
Coleman starred as much the same type on the acclaimed but short-lived sitcom Buffalo Bill (1983-1984), as an egotistic talk show host, while playing more dramatic (and sometimes more sympathetic) parts in WarGames, Cloak & Dagger, Columbo (as a guest killer), and regularly on The Guardian (as the protagonist's father) and Boardwalk Empire (Commodore Louis Kaestner).
