Daniel is the father of Julia and Samuel, and husband of Elena, who appears predominantly in videos and storybooks related to Sesame Street’s autism initiative, See Amazing in All Children.
His first appearance in the 2018 storybook Family Forever established that he works as an emergency medical technician and plays the saxophone. One web video features Daniel hurriedly preparing for a gig at Hooper's 15th Annual Open Mic Night, having trouble remembering if "Bein' Green" or "Put Down the Duckie" comes first on his setlist.
Daniel's profession as an EMT has been referenced in Sesame Street projects created in response to the 2020 coronavirus pandemic. In Elmo's Playdate, he is mentioned by Abby Cadabby as being very busy and not at home much. A series of animated videos, produced for the Caring for Each Other initiative, features Daniel and his family adjusting to life amidst the pandemic, establishing new routines to keep them healthy.
