Daniel Beretta (1946-2024)[1] was a French voice actor and singer who dubbed Bert (Bart) on the French Sesame Street co-production 5, Rue Sésame and on Les Aventures d'Ernest et Bart (Bert and Ernie's Great Adventures).
Beretta began as a singer, performing in French musical theater (including the title role in Jesus Christ, Superstar) and releasing multiple singles in the 1970s. He appeared in a few films, playing the lead in the 1972 Western Dans la poussière du soleil (In the Dust of the Sun). In dubbing, he was the official French voice of Arnold Schwarzenegger. He dubbed Patrick Stewart on Star Trek: The Next Generation and Mandy Patinkin on Dead Like Me. Cartoon roles included Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast, Detective Batou in Ghost in the Shell and its sequels, the mayor in The Nightmare Before Christmas, Swackhammer in Space Jam, the "Legend of Sleepy Hollow" narrator, and Brom Bones in The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad.
