Angus wrote for the school drama Grange Hill from 1983-1993, as well as the spin-off Tucker's Luck (1985) and a series of juvenile novels featuring the characters. He also spent a stint writing for the long-running soap opera Emmerdale in 1986. Angus shifted mostly to writing audiobooks, some of which he narrated, for BBC's Ivory Shell label and for Naxos Audio.
