David Tennant aboard the Swinetrek

David Tennant (b. 1971) is a Scottish actor known for his stint on Doctor Who, starring as the Tenth Doctor from 2005 until 2010. He reprised the role for the Friday night performance of The Muppets Take the O2 in 2018, appearing in a Pigs in Space sketch and joining in the performance of "The Rainbow Connection" for the finale.

Prior to Doctor Who, Tennant was one of the leads on 1994's Takin' Over the Asylum, had guest parts on several series (The Bill, The Mrs. Bradley Mysteries with Diana Rigg, Foyle's War), and played the younger version of Peter O'Toole as Casanova. Films include Bright Young Things (directed by Stephen Fry), Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Much Ado About Nothing, and 2011's Fright Night. Post-Who, he starred as a police detective on Broadchurch and, under a different name, in the American remake Gracepoint. He went on to play the villain Kilgrave on the Netflix series Jessica Jones and Crowley in the TV adaptation of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett's Good Omens.

With the Royal Shakespeare Company, Tennant has played the title roles in Hamlet and Richard III. In 2017, Tennant took on the role of Scrooge McDuck in the revival of DuckTales.
