Dennis Anderson is a musician known for playing various reed instruments. He spent a stint in the band on Sesame Street in the early 1980s and was heard on the albums Big Bird's Birdtime Stories (1980) and Sesame Street Christmas Sing-Along (1984)
Anderson plays the saxophone (including tenor, alto, and soprano), clarinet, flute, oboe, piccolo, English horn, and harmonica. He has worked steadily as a pit musician on Broadway, and appeared on-stage with the rest of the orchestra in the 1979 musical The 1940s Radio Hour (as Charlie "Kid Lips" Snyder). He went on to shows including Dreamgirls, the revival of Anything Goes, Nick & Nora, On the Town, Company, Sideshow, two different revivals of Gypsy, Sondheim's Assassins, and Dance of the Vampires. He has backed Liza Minnelli in concert and recorded with Audra McDonald, Chaka Khan, and Aaron Neville and was heard on the film soundtrack for Everyone Says I Love You and on 3-2-1 Contact. He plays as a member of the New York Saxophone Quartet.
