Kermit the Frog is directing a stage production of "Goldilocks and the Three Bears," and confers with stagehand Irving that everything is ready. He also gives the actor playing Goldilocks (referring to him as "Mr. K") the instruction of being a little surprised and afraid. The curtain rises on Goldilocks flatly encountering three chairs. Kermit tells Irving to correct this rhyming mistake, and asks Goldilocks for a little more emotion.
When the curtains rise again, to Kermit's dismay, there are now three squares and Goldilocks reacts woodenly. Kermit snaps at Irving to get things right this time, and gives further direction to Goldilocks. The curtains rise again, finally with three bears onstage. Goldilocks reacts with fright, however, she is not acting; she is genuinely afraid of them and points out her contract stipulates she doesn't work with children or animals. She storms off, and Kermit instructs Irving to contact the playwright and have them change the production to "Goldilocks and the Three Chairs."
