Don Crawford was a folksinger and occasional actor who appeared in The Cube as the "black militant" who takes umbrage with the Man over the whiteness of his cube (and questions why he doesn't just leave if he so wishes).
Crawford began his recording career with a 1966 self-titled album for Verve Folkways but later moved to Roulette, releasing albums Roots & Branches, Won't You Understand My Nakedness? and Another Shade of Black, featuring songs he'd written. The same year as The Cube, he appeared in Change of Mind (with Leslie Nielsen, Clarice Taylor, and fellow Cube actor Guy Sanvido), likewise shot in Toronto.
