Donny & Marie is an American variety show starring siblings Donny and Marie Osmond. Produced by Sid and Marty Krofft, the series aired on ABC from 1976 to 1979.
Appearances[]
- October 21, 1977 — Big Bird considers changing his persona to get into big-time television. After he banters with Donny and Marie, they do a song and dance number, singing a medley of the songs "Friendship" and "Playmates." The episode also featured Glen Campbell and Bernadette Peters as guest stars.
- October 28, 1977 — Oscar the Grouch appears in a musical sketch set at a "Burger Prince" restaurant, helping Donny sing his disgusting food order to the tune of "I Am the Captain of the Pinafore" from HMS Pinafore. Later, Big Bird appears at the tail end of a brief sketch spoofing The Birds, as avian flocks violently congregate outside the house of Marie and guest Kristy McNichol. Big Bird appears at the door and finds he and his feathered friends are at the wrong address; they're looking for 123 East Sesame Street and have arrived at 123 East Sycamore Street instead (one block away). Ben Vereen and Billy Crystal were also guest stars in the episode.
