Douglas Adams was the author of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, filmed (with much Creature Shop assistance) after his death. Adams was also a close friend of Christopher Cerf.
Adams went on to pen several sequels to the original story, which began as a radio series. He also was the author Dirk Bentley's Holistic Detective Agency and various other works. Adams was an atheist and an ardent environmentalist. He was often puzzled by fame and wasn't always sure what to make of some of the behaviors of fans. He was also notorious for repeatedly submitting novels for publication well past deadlines. Some of his last works were published in The Salmon of Doubt, which featured an introduction by Christopher Cerf.
The Salmon of Doubt also includes a Muppet reference; in a paragraph of discription, a toy Kermit the Frog was mentioned.
