Earl is a mustelid-like character who appears in The Wubbulous World of Dr. Seuss episode "A Bird's Best Friend."
Earl introduces himself after Yertle the Turtle shows Morton and Junior Kangaroo his nut collection (which he is not willing to share). Earl reveals that he also collects nuts and promises to show him where to get the rarest nut of all from the snozzberry snout tree. On their way, Earl and Yertle discover that they have a lot of things in common such as swinging from trees and having a favorite snack in burplenut butter cookies.
After working together to retrieve the snozzberry snout nut, Yertle returns to Morton and Junior, declaring that he doesn't need friends since he has Earl, with whom he does things and has lots of fun. Informed that that's what a friend is, Yertle asks Morton and Junior if they'd like to be his friend too, inviting them all back to his place to share his nut collection.
