Edgar Kendricks is a singer and songwriter who served as one of the leads for the singing group, Listen My Brother.
Kendricks appeared with the group in their appearances in the Sesame Street test shows. He wrote the songs performed by the group, including "Alphabet Song" and "Counting Song (1-20)." He appeared with the group again in Episode 0228.
He also appeared on the show solo, singing a song about the parts of the body (First: Episode 0897), another counting song (First: Episode 0912), and "Cross at the Green" (which he also wrote).
Edgar Kendricks was the brother of Eddie Kendricks of The Temptations. Apart from his work with Sesame Street and Listen My Brother, he had his own label in the 1970s, Edricks Records Inc., to release his solo albums. He recorded two children's albums for Folkways, Getting It Together And Other Nursery Songs and Edgar Kendricks Sings For The Very Young.
