Elizabeth Barrett Browning (1806-1861) was an English poet of the Victorian era. One of her most famous poems was first published in 1850 as number 43 in the collection Sonnets from the Portuguese. Its opening line asks the question, "How do I love thee? Let me count the ways," while the rest of the poem attempts to answer.
