Picture Segment Description
Guess what Elmo's thinking about today? Elmo opens the door to a pile of clothing that falls into the room with a sock getting stuck on his nose. A montage of children dressing themselves, their pets, and their toys plays.
Dorothy's Question Dorothy has an orange figurine wearing a hat, mittens and pants in her fish bowl. She asks "How do you get dressed?"
The Noodle Family Mr. Noodle gets dressed. Starting in a red union suit, he buttons the top buttons on his shirt, ties his bow tie, and puts on his pants and suspenders. When he finishes, he finds his suspenders are still looped over the hook on the door they were hanging on, pulling Mr. Noodle back.
Kids and Baby Kids show Dorothy how they put on socks, a sweatshirt, and snow pants. Elmo asks a baby with a sun hat.
Elmo's Question Elmo asks the viewer to help him count CGI pants marching across the screen, which are followed by three ants in the pants.
Video E-Mail Ernie shares that Rubber Duckie likes getting dressed and shows the duckie dressed as a police officer.
Quiz Elmo asks questions about what people wear to work. Firefighters don't wear a swimsuit or a tutu; they wear a firefighter's uniform. Astronauts don't wear a scuba-diving suit or a baseball uniform; they wear a space suit. Worms don't get dressed, but Slimey can wear whatever he wants. He wears a top hat and tails and dances to a clip of "Puttin' on the Ritz."
Film Elmo's friend Alexis dresses herself, then helps her dad dress her baby sister Arianna.
TV Cartoon The Getting Dressed Channel shows the Lecture Lady, who sings "I Put My Leg in My Pants." Coming up next: "Socks in the City" and "Shall We Pants?" starring Shirt Reynolds. Elmo even gets dressed with the song.
Interview Elmo talks to Book, which announces its title as "The History of Getting Dressed" and shows a pop-up page of "caveman dress" before Tickle Me Land takes over.

Tickle Me Land Dorothy imagines Elmo in Roman times wearing a toga, in medieval times wearing a suit of armor, and two Elmos in Scotland wearing kilts (one with a bagpipe playing "Scotland the Brave," one dancing).
The Getting Dressed Song Elmo and Book sing the "Getting Dressed Song."
