Picture Segment Description
Guess what Elmo's thinking about today? Elmo opens the door to his closet to discover a giant mound of shoes, which tumble out and bury him. A montage of feet doing different activities while wearing shoes follows.
Dorothy's Question Dorothy has a shoe figurine in her bowl; she wants to know how to put on shoes.
The Noodle Family Mr. Noodle (against a plainer background than in later episodes) tries to get his shoes on, first putting them on his hands, then his ears, then finally on his feet - but he ties the laces together and falls on his face.
Kids and Baby Kids show how they put on their shoes using Velcro, buckles, and laces. Elmo gives a shoe to a baby, who plays with the laces.
Elmo's Question Elmo asks the viewer to count how many shoes are in a pair of shoes.
Quiz Elmo knows who wears shoes and who doesn't. Birthday cakes don't, but astronauts do - space shoes. Tables don't, but they do have legs. Horses wear horseshoes. Snuffleupaguses don't, except when they're tap dancing, which Snuffy demonstrates.

Film Elmo narrates the time his friend Brianna went with her daddy to the shoe store to buy a new pair of shoes. On their way out of the store, they throw her old shoes in a trash can, which happens to be occupied by Oscar: "There's no business like shoe business!"
TV Cartoon The Shoe Channel features an Ed Sullivan-esque emcee introducing The Story of Shoes. Cavepeople are shown getting tired of their feet getting cold, muddy, and sore, so after trying to wear banana peels and bushes, they invent shoes. Coming up, Heel of Fortune, followed by Your Shoe of Shoes!
Interview Elmo interviews a lavender and leopard-print shoe and learns about the different parts of a shoe, including the tongue (which Elmo also has) and the sole ("You got sole!"). Also heard from are a pair of loafers ("We're takin' a nap.") and a pair of hiking boots ("Hike, hike, hike, hike..." ).

Tickle Me Land Dorothy imagines Elmo hiking up a steep mountain to yodel, tap dancing on a stage, and ice skating across a frozen pond.
Home Video Elmo shows a video he made called What Shoes Do When Nobody is Wearing Them.
The Shoe Song Elmo sings the "Shoe Song" with the viewer.
