Elmo and Abby's Birthday Fun! is a 2009 Sesame Street direct-to-video compilation.
In the 45-minute production, Elmo and Abby Cadabby learn about the different ways birthdays are celebrated by taking part in Dorothy's birthday party on Sesame Street and Little Red Riding Hood's birthday party in Fairytaleland. At her party, Elmo sees the different ways fairy tale characters celebrate birthdays, playing games like "Fetch a Pail of Water" and having birthday wishes instead of presents. However, Abby doesn't know how to send Elmo back to Sesame Street for Dorothy's birthday.

Elmo shows her his โPin the Tail on the Donkeyโ game, but Abby is shocked to find the donkey is tail-less and tries to zap one on, but poofs a snail on him. FRAME 5 | Elmo becomes more intrigued in Fairy Tale Birthdays and Abby offers to take him to Little Red Riding Hoodโs birthday party. Elmo accepts the invite, so long as heโs back in time for Dorothyโs party. They make up a rhyming spell and poof away.
FRAME 5 cont'd | They re-appear at Little Redโs birthday party in the park. Abby introduces him to Little Red (who calls him Grandma), Jack (from all the stories involving someone named Jack) and Hansel and Gretel. She also makes them flower hats. Elmo learns that instead of presents, they all get a birthday wish.
FRAME 5 cont'd | Red wants to play a game and they all agree on โFetch a Pail of Waterโ. A Pail of Water appears and they all chase after it, who catching it wins. Everyone but Elmo gets tired and Jack uses his birthday wish to make Elmo the winner.
FRAME 5 cont'd | The next game is โPull Out the Plumbโ, where they stick their hands in a giant pie to find a plumb. Everyone finds odd things (including a tennis ball and a monster), until Hansel, Gretel and Abby wish that Little Red would find the plumb. She pulls it out and on her thumb even (โWhat a good girl am I!โ). She then declares itโs time to dance, gracefully around the maypole. Jack finds it daunting and opts for a different dance. Elmo claims to know some good birthday dances.

FRAME 6 | The group now devours the cake and sings a birthday song to Little Red. Abby notes Elmo still has his wish and he wishes for a stuffed blue octopus. Elmo decides to leave and asks Abby to poof him home, but she sends his toy instead and canโt send him away. He asks Little Red, who still has her wish, to send him home, but she thinks wishing for a toy is a better idea (โItโs trendy!โ) Sheโs joking, of course, and explains that their wishes are meant to be self-less and wishes him home. Elmo octopus toy re-appears, which Elmo gives to Little Red as a present.
