Emo Shun is Coldrain Middle School's most popular boy band. The band is featured in the Tales of a Sixth-Grade Muppet books.
Emo Shun consists of three sixth graders: the three-foot-tall Cody Carter, the French-speaking Danny Enfant (real name Chuck Scrattburger, from Bakersville), and the lead singer Kip Strummer. Danvers used to be part of the band (and best friends with Kip) until he was kicked out for his use of explosives during their performances. Emo Shun later inspires the formation of Danvers' own band — Mon Swoon.
The band wins their audition to play at the Fall on Ice Festival, beating out Danvers and other "slightly sub-par acts." During the festival, they perform "Girl, You Froze My Heart Then Melted It with a Flamethrower, Yo."
Their top five songs, according to Bigboard, include such standouts as "Let My Heart Out for Recess, Girl" and "You Mixed My Heart Into Some Waffle Batter and Then You Cookied It and Broke It In Two Like an Egg, Yo." They even produced their own "sappy, schmaltzy" music video for their single "Hey Girl."
In Clash of the Class Clowns, Emo Shun experiences a stall in their career after the flop of their country album Sweltering Hearts. Kip and Danvers decide to put aside their differences and join forces as Mon Emo Shun Swoon (or M.E.S.S. for short) and record a song together, called "Girl, Don't Be Rash," which proves to be a massive success.
However, Emo Shun continues to struggle on their own, and they further branch out into different genres, including a children's album (at the behest of Chloe) and the heavy metal Grungy Kittens of Carnage, Yo, with very little success.
