SCENE 1 Susan is busy cooking for a dinner party, and she is one chair short. She asks Big Bird to go borrow a chair from Mrs. Rodriguez down the street.
Celebrity Lorne Greene and the Bonanza cast add two horses and one horse to make three horses.

SCENE 2 Big Bird comes back, sans chair. He says that he tried talking to Mrs. Rodriguez, but Susan explains that Mrs. Rodriguez is a little hard of hearing, and makes sure he knows how to talk loud.
Muppets Ernie & Bert β€” Bert says that he's going to demonstrate quiet by talking quietly to Ernie. But when he tries, Ernie claims that he can't hear what Bert is saying. Finally, Bert gets frustrated and shouts at Ernie; Ernie tells Bert not to be so loud.

SCENE 3 Bob asks the kids to sort things by the volume of the sound they make.

SCENE 4 Big Bird comes back, again, sans chair. He explains that he tried talking loudly to Mrs. Rodriguez, but Susan explains that Mrs. Rodriguez only speaks Spanish, and teaches him how to ask for the chair ("silla").
Muppets Kermit uses a radio to demonstrate "soft". Grover shows up and wants to talk about loud, turning the radio up. After the two demonstrate soft and loud a few times, Big V appears and eats the radio.

CLOSING SIGNS Oscar holds up the Sesame Street sign, while Roosevelt Franklin and Betty Lou hold up the CTW sign at the end.
