SCENE 1 | Bob buys an apple from Mr. Macintosh and tells the viewer he's going to do some people watching today. Marty, whom Bob has never met, greets him and claims to be from Mars. He says he smells with his eyes, hears with his nose, eats with his ears ("that's the best way to tell a Martian; he's always stuffing cookies in his ears"), and sees through his thumbs. Bob thinks he's pulling his leg, and Marty eventually concedes that he's not from Mars.
Bob expresses his pleasure with having met him and extends his arm to shake Marty's hand, but he's met with a foot. "Oh, we men from the Moon always shake hands with our feet!" The two share a laugh over the joke. |
