SCENE 1 Oscar writes a poem in honor of Charlie Rotten for tonight's testimonial dinner at the Disagreeable Order of Grouches (D.O.G.) lodge meeting. Gordon, Mr. Hooper and Susan suggest some complimentary rhymes about his friend, but Oscar would rather write grouchy rhymes. He retaliates with a poem about his not-so-helpful neighbors: "Next time I write a poem, and ask your advice, believe me, I'm certainly going to think about it twice!"

SCENE 4 Oscar is disgusted by a tree nearby, claiming it has no uses and should be chopped down. Susan and Gordon protest, listing all the tree's advantages, but Oscar stays firm on his opinion. They then list some of the tree's drawbacks, like loud singing birds and the wind whistling through it. Oscar suddenly likes the tree, and gives it a hug. They say goodbye (though Oscar contrarily says, "hello") and Mr. Hooper announces the sponsors.

CLOSING SIGNS Gordon and Susan hold the Sesame Street sign, while Bob holds the Children's Television Workshop sign.
