SCENE 1 | Big Bird invites Susan and Bob over to his nest for some birdseed tea, where they find some unusual clues. First, a bag of spilled birdseed is laying out, which Big Bird is sure he put in his nest before he took a walk. They also find a small suitcase, and mistake the voice of someone humming as either Big Bird's radio (which is broken) or his TV set (which he doesn't own). They find a squatter at the nest, a man named Melvin Finster who is having trouble finding a home. Upon learning that it's Big Bird's nest, Mr. Finster sobbingly prepares to find somewhere else to stay, eliciting a hospitality offer from Big Bird. Mr. Finster –– and his family –– rejoice. |

SCENE 2 | Gordon tells Big Bird that Susan is looking around for an apartment for the Finsters to stay in. Big Bird hasn't talked to them, but he's learned about them by listening in on their activities. He knows they have two dogs because he's heard them barking, that Mr. Finster repairs motorcycles because he's heard revving one up, and has heard the kids practicing violin and drums, and the mother practicing singing. |

SCENE 3 | Mr. Finster has put a sign next to Big Bird's nest: MOTORCYCLES REPAIRED. He requests Big Bird help make a fence for their dogs (Fluffy and Kong). Big Bird is hesitant to oust him and his family, but Susan saves the day by offering the Finsters an apartment she's found with a basement to boot –– Bob and Gordon can help with the repairs. Mr. Finster is touched by the generosity he's encountered today on Sesame Street, especially since nobody knows him well. He thanks Big Bird with an offer for free motorcycle repair. |
