SCENE 1 It's nighttime on Sesame Street and an announcer asks the kids (off-screen) to listen to the quiet for a minute. Some sounds are heard that the announcer asks them to identify: a cat meowing, Oscar the Grouch and Big Bird snoring, and a fire engine in the distance. "Aren't night sounds interesting?"

SCENE 2 It's now just before dawn now and the annoucer continues to ask the kids to identify sounds: a bird starting to sing, an alarm clock, Mr. Hooper's keys as he readies to open Hooper's Store for the day, Susan singing in the shower, and Gordon zipping up her dress. Susan exits 123 Sesame Street, asks if the viewer has been listening to her all along, and notes that listening is a fascinating thing. For example, Gordon cries "ouch" from offscreen while shaving and Susan heads back inside to check on him.
