  • Bob holds two thin slats of wood and explains that he can make letters out of these two straight lines. He makes a T and an X out of the slats.
  • Bob, and Maria guess why Oscar hung an "OPEN" sign on his trash can. They think that it may mean that he's open for the trash business or that he may be open for visitors. They open his can and he tells them to go away--didn't they read the sign? It was supposed to read closed, but got blown over by the wind.
  • Cartoon: Gloria, a rambunctious little girl, sings the alphabet song while an adult gives her instructions. (lowercase version) (First: Episode 0010)
  • Film: Detective Fred (Joe Raposo) is sent by his boss (Danny Epstein) to locate the number 20. Throughout the office and on the streets of New York, Fred tracks down the numbers 11 through 18 in numerical order by spying his surroundings. When he finds his way to Apartment 19, he discovers it is occupied by a gorilla, who leads him directly to the elusive 20. (EKA: Episode 0277)
  • Luis explains Oscar's "CLOSED" sign to two children in Spanish.
  • Alice Braithwaite Goodyshoes: Alice uses a brick wall to demonstrate around (by going around the wall), under (by pretending to climb under it), and over (by jumping over it, and crashing when she lands). (First: Episode 0076)
  • Mr. Snuffleupagus has a cold in his trunk, and explains that he can neither snuffle things up through it or blow water out of it as he usually does. Big Bird suggests that he use a vacuum cleaner to suck things up with and a garden hose to spray water with.
  • Maria shows photos of a school, a movie house, a filling station, and a fire house and asks some kids if they can identify what they are.
  • Snuffleupagus asks Big Bird how many is three.
  • Luis explains that he is going to buy batteries for his flashlight in case there's another blackout on Sesame Street.
  • Before the lights go back on, Luis notes that Sesame Street is very quiet during the blackout.
  • Cartoon: The great Alphonso and his trained X's perform a circus routine.
  • Muppets want to play basketball, but they need five people. After several counting attempts, they discover that there are five of them, but they do not have a basketball.
  • Maria explains signs to kids in Spanish
