SCENE 1 | David has just finished reading a book, and has nothing to do. He invites Jay (who has just finished a jigsaw puzzle) to play some basketball, but Jay isn't in the mood and would rather do something else. David then asks Tom, who must remain in Hooper's Store and can't play with them. David has an idea, and exchanges his book for Jay's puzzle. Oscar explains that the cup actually belongs to Molly, and was asked to give it to him so it can be fixed the "normal" way. Luis offers to buy a new cup for a seething Molly.

At first he thinks the garbage collector (portrayed by Luis) threw it out, but David points that a nearby trash can is still full, so the collector hasn't arrived yet. Big Bird then believes that some hungry person (portrayed by Tom in tattered clothes) gobbled it up, but David finds it unlikely that a non-bird would eat it. Finally, Molly comes along and tells him that she found the bag and put it in his nest for safekeeping. Big Bird promises to be more careful where he puts his birdseed... before sitting on it.
