Luis tells him to take whatever customers bring in, and have them put their name on it using the nearby tags. While Luis is gone, Molly brings her kettle to be fixed right away so she could use it for her morning tea. Mr. Hooper is eager to listen to an upcoming ball game, and drops off his radio. Big Bird thinks his job is fun, but believes it would be more fun if he helped out and fixed both the kettle and the radio. | |

SCENE 3 | Molly delivers Mr. Hooper’s mail, which is mostly bills. He explains to Big Bird that bills are letters that tell you that you owe money for something you've already bought. Mr. Hooper tells him that if he didn't pay the candy company, they wouldn't send him any more candy; to Big Bird's surprise, the candy jars suddenly disappear. If Mr. Hooper didn't pay the magazine company, they wouldn't send him any more magazines; the magazines disappear, too. And if Hooper didn't pay the electric company, they would shut off his electricity and he wouldn't have any lights (which shut off). Everything goes back to normal when Mr. Hooper repeats how important paying bills can be. Knowing this, Big Bird pays him a nickel in advance for a bag of birdseed. | |
