SCENE 1 | Big Bird notices all the grownups doing their jobs on Sesame Street. Rafael is opening the Fix-it Shop, David is painting the garage bannister (likely hired by Gordon, Big Bird surmises), and Molly is delivering the mail to the residents of 123 Sesame Street. He tells Molly how busy everybody but him seems to be: "I'm a natural-born bird by trade, but I don't have a job to do." He decides to get a job himself, though he's not sure what kind of job to do yet.

SCENE 2 | Big Bird, wearing a straw hat, has decided to take up farming. He shows Molly the empty milk carton he has, which will be full once he gets milk from a cow. Molly explains to him that the few grass blades growing between the weeds in his garden will not be enough to feed a cow. He decides instead to grow vegetables, but his small flower pot can't accommodate things like a cornstalk. He resolves that a farmer isn't the job for him, not only because he doesn't know how to properly farm, but he also gets to enjoy the tasty corn seeds.

Bob tries to explain that while the ties may be the right size for Big Bird, they're much too big for him (especially when he tries it on). Big Bird is discouraged, until he remembers that he was going to paint a “TIES FOR SALE” sign, and decides to become a sign painter.
