Muppets Ernie wants to show Bert his ice-cube collection. The ice cubes were so cold that he had to put them in a box covered with an electric blanket. Much to Ernie's surprise, the ice cubes have disappeared. Since they were replaced with water, Ernie suspects that a fish might have stolen them. Bert tells him that it's because they've melted. Ernie, however, is now convinced that a fish melted the ice cubes, and angrily walks out the door to "tear him fin-from-fin."

SCENE 2 At the Fix-it Shop, Rafael is about to fix Maria's radio, when he gets a phone call. Mr. Snuffleupagus, on the other end, asks to speak to Big Bird. Rafael says he'll take a message, but Snuffy hangs up before Rafael can figure out who it is. Rafael passes the message on to Big Bird, who confirms that it was Snuffy on the phone, but Rafael thinks Big Bird disguised his voice as a prank. He, Maria and Gordon head to Hooper's Store.

The three, along with Mr. Hooper, agree that something has to be done about Big Bird and his Snuffle-nonsense. Big Bird eavesdrops and overhears Gordon say, โ€œWe wonโ€™t quit until we get rid of that Snuffleupagus once and for all.โ€ He imagines them as villains confronting Snuffy in a Western-style setting: Snuffy refuses to leave, but they fight back, tickling him until he gives. Back in reality, Big Bird heads off to warn Snuffy.

In his nest area, Big Bird finds Snuffy, and warns him that the adults are coming to drive him away with tickles โ€“ right now! When they get there, they invite Big Bird to the playground, and he blocks their entry: โ€œYouโ€™ll never take him!โ€ He confesses that he lied to them so they wouldnโ€™t take Snuffy away, like he overheard them planning to do earlier. The adults reassure him that they wouldnโ€™t do that, even if Snuffy were real. Feeling relieved, Big Bird invites them inside to meet Snuffy, but of course, heโ€™s not there because he heeded Big Birdโ€™s warning and escaped.
