He chides Oscar for having such bad manners, and teaches him how to ask nicely for something. Oscar resists at first, starting by asking in a loud, grouchy way, but reluctantly gives in and whispers politely for the can. Once David hands it to him, Oscar gripes about all the extra effort it took just to get it.
