SCENE 1 | Mr. Hooper, Gordon and Kate follow a long clothesline that stretches from Hooper's Store to the doors leading to Big Bird's nest area. Big Bird claims it’s his “new invention” which allows him to place orders from Hooper’s without leaving his nest: just attach a message to one of the clothespins, then wheel it to its destination. Big Bird envisions such devices stretching across the world and even to the Moon, but they inform him that he could just use the telephone. His own phone rings, but Big Bird vows to invent something helpful. | |
