Ernie puts the small caps on them, and they're ready to start. As Ernie wonders where that huge cap came from, a basketball named Big Bill (captain of the opposing team) bounces in, demanding his cap back. Ernie ends up postponing the game once he sees the competition.

SCENE 3 Oscar and Kate have arrived, and Kate observes Gordon using the sink. She remembers what it was like when she was a little girl on a farm, back when there was no running water – only outdoor pumps. She uses her sketchpad to draw a water pump as she describes the process to Oscar. He doesn’t think it’s such an inconvenience to fetch water from outside, but the others disagree with him citing the ways they use water. In an attempt to prove them wrong, Oscar proceeds to fetch some water from his trash can.
