SCENE 1 | Kate greets the viewer from Big Bird's nest with a few kids (including Joey). Big Bird arrives and wants to show Kate his new "Pete Cigar" record, but first he wants to call Susan as she's borrowing it. Kate thinks the phone call is unnecessary, recalling her youth without a telephone and having to visit neighbors to pass along a message. Big Bird thinks that's a nice idea, and decides to try not using the phone today. He repeatedly goes back and forth between Gordon at 123 Sesame Street and Susan at Hooper's Store as he tries to get the record. The others would prefer they use the telephone, but Big Bird insists on trying it his way, eventually wearing himself out. | |
