Ernie ends up postponing the game once he sees the competition.

Instead, each passerby (including Gordon, some kids, and Bob) knocks on Oscar's trash can to compliment his photo, so he takes it down. When Gordon returns to show the photo to a kid, he knocks on the can again to inform Oscar that his photo is missing.
