He takes it off while Maria enters the store to get the paper, but puts it back on when Mr. Hooper is around to admire it. Maria and Mr. Hooper continue going back and forth into the store, and David has to keep putting the hat on and taking it off.

Muppets Western: Four Anything Muppet cowboys put up a Wanted poster for "the Great Cookie Thief", who's been stealing cookies from all the bakeries in these here parts. Cookie Monster is standing in front of the poster, and the others suspect that he's the Great Cookie Thief -- he has the same googly eyes, the same blue fur, and the same Western hat. They confront Cookie Monster, but he denies the charge: "Not have same mustache!" He shouts, "Look over there!" -- and while they're distracted, he draws a mustache on the poster. They apologize -- but then Cookie Monster takes off his hat, and cookies fall out. The Great Cookie Thief makes his escape.

Big Bird is so upset that Oscar is getting presents and he isn’t, so he decides to do something about it…

David has a bag of birdseed, but laments that it was for an old friend whom he misses. Big Bird decides to go back to being his old self, and happily digs into the birdseed.

Herbert hears Cookie Monster approaching, and hides to observe him. Cookie investigates the machine for a moment, then gets the cookies by karate-chopping the glass cover.
