He describes her and shows her picture to Mr. Hooper, and then Gordon, who point him in Maria's direction, but can't be told why a police officer is looking for her because it's official business. He finds Maria, confirms that she is Puerto Rican, has black, curly hair, and dark eyes, and tells her he's there on official police business. When Maria asks what she can do to help, Officer Krupky holds up a card with the word "beso" on it, and he needs her to translate it for him. Maria takes off his hat, gives him a kiss on the head, and tells him it means "kiss". Krupky wonders why he gets all the mushy assignments. |
