SCENE 2 | Simon Soundman sits in Hooper's Store, where David says he'll be right back, exiting through the back door. While he's alone, Simon muses out loud about leaving the store unattended, making the sound pattern of the door opening, the entry bell ringing, and the door closing. David comes back in, thinking someone else has entered, but finds only Simon there. This happens again, then finally Simon decides to leave. When David hears the door and bell, he assumes someone's playing a trick on him, and announces he's not going back inside. Luis then enters Hooper's, but David still thinks it's a trick. He goes around to the front door, thinks Luis has been playing the trick on him, and chews him out. Simon comes back and makes the sounds again, flustering David. | |
