Muppets Guy Smiley hosts "Beat the Time". In order to win a cookie, Cookie Monster has to bring in three things that rhyme with the word "rain" before the hand goes around the clock. They turn out to be an old man's "cane", a "chain" (to which Frazzle is attached), and finally a "train" which destroys the set.

She then tries to crawl down a hole in the ground, but that turns out to belong to an earthworm. She tries to get into a trash can, which belongs to Oscar. She finally finds a barn and is invited in by another cow.

Muppets Cookie Monster presents to Ernie his new device “The Cookie Counter” which will notify him of the quantity of cookies inside the box. Cookie Monster points “The Cookie Counter” rod to the box of cookies, which rings five times representing the amount of cookies inside the box. Ernie is impressed by Cookie Monster's device and talks about the benefits the device provides to the audience, simultaneously Cookie Monster eats Ernie's box of cookies. Ernie tests the Cookie Counter by pointing the rod at the box of cookies, the box doesn't ring. Cookie Monster asks Ernie to face the Cookie Counter rod to his stomach; it rings five times as proof of the location of the five cookies.

SCENE 4 Mr. Snuffleupagus visits Big Bird with a balloon. While Big Bird goes to fetch Maria, Snuffy gets the idea to go get more balloons from the garage. When Maria and Big Bird finally get there, they see a kid holding the balloon instead. After they pass by Oscar’s trash can and see a balloon tied to it, Oscar tells Snuffy to leave.
Cartoon "Alphabet Imagination": A female voice quickly recites the alphabet followed by a male voice narrating each letter in a series of psychedelic vignettes.

Ernie says that he can't play -- his ball fell in the ocean.
