SCENE 1 Big Bird is holding an arrow and barking orders to the falling snow, making sure it knows where and how to fall. Maria tells him the snow doesn't have a brain, and there's no need to help give it direction. Big Bird asks Maria if she's sure the snow won't know what to do without some instructions, and she says it will absolutely continue to fall in place on its own. Big Bird leaves, and as Maria scoffs at the idea, the snow briefly reverses direction until she blinks when it returns to normal again.

SCENE 3 Oscar the Grouch berates Gordon for shoveling the steps of 123 Sesame Street because of all the great things that would happen otherwise. The screen shifts to Oscar's scenario depicting Maria slipping down the steps and Gordon yelling at her for being such a cry baby. Oscar explains this would lead to an investigation by Stanley Stinker, the Secretary of the Disagreeable Order of Grouches (played in the scenario by David), who would award Gordon with being such a great grouch. The scene shifts out of Oscar's imagination and back to reality where he's now changed his mind: Gordon has to shovel those steps so as not to steal Oscar's thunder for being a better grouch.

SCENE 4 David returns to Hooper's Store from a delivery and finds Big Bird-like footprints on the floor. On the counter, there's a note explaining that someone took some bird seed, left some money, and will return later for the change. It's not signed, but there's a yellow feather at the bottom of the note. David queries the audience and puts the clues together. He deduces that it was either a man carrying a yellow bird with large feet, or it was Big Bird. Just as he decides it would more logically be Big Bird, he hears Big Bird's voice from off screen. It's followed by a man (Caroll Spinney) wearing large boots who's carrying a bird cage containing a yellow bird. David is in disbelief, and the man asks who he expected otherwise. David does a slow take as the man leaves and says he needs to get some rest.
