SCENE 1 | In the morning, after a stormy night, Bob, David and Maria observe how wet it is outside. Oscar arrives back to his can after having a campout in the rainy park, discovering his home is now full of water. Everyone is surprised except Oscar: he left it open on purpose, hoping it would spoil everything inside. They get together and bale the water out, including some soggy items from his can such as a book (a study on pessimism by Nietzsche), a pillow, and an old bugle. Bob and David tip the can over to pour the rest of the water out, but upon hearing it's supposed to rain again, Oscar plans on repeating the process. He admires his sopping home, noting, "It's so wet in here, when the sun shines in, there's a rainbow in the corner!" |
