SCENE 1 At Hooper's Store, David sings about his "Subtraction Blues" while Mr. Hooper, Maria and Jay subtract his slices of pizza as David makes his way down the street. He drops the last slice on the ground when the kids bump into him, and tosses the final dirty slice into Oscar's trash can.

SCENE 4 David, who's just been paid and given the day off, offers Maria a date to the movies, but Maria can't make it since she has to study. David then asks Jay, but he's got music practice. Big Bird is next, but he needs to repair a hole in his nest. David is bothered as everyone is busy today, and everyone he has met offers to go tomorrow. Big Bird gets an idea: he calls out for Mr. Hooper to let David work today, and Hooper agrees to it. Since David now has the day off tomorrow, Big Bird begins to excitedly tell everybody about the theater party David's going to have (on his money).

CLOSING SIGNS Mr. Hooper and David hold the Sesame Street sign, and Maria, Luis, and a kid hold the Children's Television Workshop sign.

  • In a continuity error, the first close-up of Mr. Hooper's diagram in scene 3 was actually taken in front of the Fix-it Shop rather than at the store as evident by the background.
