SCENE 2 | Some older kids (Martie, Corey, Todd, and Shannon) arrive at Oscar's Grouch school, where Oscar the teacher praises them for being a half-hour late. David and Susan interrupt as everyone recites the Grouch pledge, and notice that the students all have dirty faces, wear torn clothes, bring junk, books, and boxes with them, and have sour pickles for lunch. One kid brings an old watering can for show-and-tell, and Oscar teaches the importance of the word “yucchy.” Oscar fetches his baton to lead everyone in a music lesson - “I Love Trash.” | |
