SCENE 2 | While Linda sits reading near the arbor, Maria, Gordon, Bob, Big Bird, and the kids tip-toe around the yard setting up a surprise. When they're ready, they all shout "Happy Birthday!" and when Linda doesn't respond, they remember that they didn't need to bother keeping quiet.
Bob realizes he never learned how to sign "Happy Birthday", so Maria approaches Linda to ask how it's done. Once Maria goes through it a couple times, and has worked Linda over to the table with balloons and cake, everyone all signs and shouts "Happy Birthday" again. Big Bird points out the lack or presents, but Maria says she's got that covered, and goes to retrieve a surprise from inside Hooper's Store. Bob covers Linda's eyes, and when she opens them, she sees her father Andy (Andy Vasnick) standing before her. He lives on a farm in Minnesota and hadn't seen his daughter in a long time, so Linda's friends all pitched in to buy him a plane ticket so that he could come and visit for her birthday. | |
