	SCENE 1	Bob (from his apartment window), Maria, Linda, and Big Bird show how they can say, "Hi, welcome to Sesame Street," in different languages: English (Bob), Spanish (Maria), sign language (Linda), and bluejay (Big Bird). Big Bird then proceeds to welcome the viewer in crow, owl, nightingale, and canary.
	Cartoon	After the big game, a bird skeleton and an elephant skeleton get their skins mixed up in the locker room. The coach helps them out. (First: Episode 0774)
	Muppets	Sesame Street News Flash: Rumplestiltskin — Kermit helps the miller's daughter guess Rumpelstiltskin's name. (First: Episode 0724)
	Animation	Three lines attempt to individually reach the top of the TV screen, but fail. They succeed after they combine all of their lengths. (First: Episode 0288)

	SCENE 2	David, Maria, Bob, and the kids (including Joey) talk about what hands can do. They all snap their fingers, clap, wave, tickle each other, and various other actions; Stephanie says that you can check if your tooth is loose. Linda arrives to remind them that hands can also be used to talk.

	Muppets	When Maurice, a hapless casanova, puts an Anything Muppet woman's head together, he tells her that he loves her, but it turns out she doesn't love him. He then proceeds to take her head apart, bit by bit, as he sings "I Want to Hold Your Ear" (as well as eyes, nose, tooth, and hair). After she walks off in a huff, he notices to his shock that the parts he set aside have attached themselves to the tablecloth, who thinks he's kinda cute. (First: Episode 0524)

	SCENE 3	Oscar calls Maria over and coyly gives her a surprise present. ("Don't tell me I never gave you anything.") Her friends tell her not to open the battered, taped-up box because there might be a yucky surprise inside, like a jack-in-the-box or some kind of explosive. Maria opens the gift anyway, and it turns out to be an old tin can wrapped in a burlap ribbon. David and Bob recognize the can as one of his favorite cans that he used to keep on his mantlepiece. Joey thinks that Oscar may secretly be in love with her, so Maria walks over to Oscar's trash can. ("If he goes crazy, don't speak to him!" Joey warns.) Oscar becomes worried that she'll thank him with a kiss. Instead, Maria gives him a heartfelt message: "I never liked you." The Grouch is truly surprised!

	Muppets	Grover is going to teach the audience about "surprise" by sneaking up on Ernie. He sees Ernie sitting in his chair -- and he knows that it's Ernie, because he can see Ernie's shirt and Ernie's hair. Grover sneaks up to surprise Ernie -- but then it turns out to be Herry Monster, disguised as Ernie. (First: Episode 0183)

	SCENE 4	As the others play and mingle in the yard, David pulls Maria over to give her another surprise in response to Oscar's gift. He hands her a can of peanut brittle, which turns out to be the old snake-in-the-can trick. David reels over in laughter before giving her a better surprise: a beautiful rose. She gives him a kiss, and David jokingly reacts to it in a manner that Oscar usually would: sputtering in disgust. "Surprise!"

	SCENE 5	Big Bird sings "I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles" to himself when he notices Linda sleeping nearby in the yard. Big Bird finds it odd, as the area is usually too noisy for anybody to just sleep there. As Maria passes by with a noisy radio, Big Bird tries to tell her not to wake up Linda, but she reminds him that Linda is deaf and thus can’t be woken up by noises.

	SCENE 6	Bob, Maria, and Linda say goodbye with the kids in English, Spanish, and sign language. Big Bird reminds them that they didn't show the different ways to say goodbye in bird calls, and instead shows the general way birds do it: waving their wing. He also tells Bob that he didn't go over the many ways that people can say goodbye, and everyone starts rattling off more parting messages. To add to the chaos, David shows up and hands Bob his surprise can of peanut brittle before announcing the sponsors offscreen, and the credits roll.
	CLOSING SIGNS	David holds the Sesame Street sign, and Maria and Bob hold the Children's Television Workshop sign.
