Bob, Maria and David muse about Big Bird’s attempts to surprise them, believing he doesn't know how. They all decide to surprise him themselves by sneaking over near Oscar's trash can and hiding. As they do so, Big Bird decides to ask around about how to properly surprise someone, but can't find anyone else around Sesame Street. He makes his way toward his nest when everybody jumps out and yells, "Surprise!" He's startled by their sudden appearance, then asks if any of them know how to surprise someone. | |

SCENE 2 | Maria and David argue over who’s going to pick up the tickets for tonight’s concert since both of them have to work. Big Bird intervenes and ends up going between them relaying messages to figure out how to get the tickets. David and Maria gradually get more upset, which bothers Big Bird since he doesn't like being in the middle of their argument. He's had enough and decides to pick up the tickets himself, which cheers up the moods of the grown-ups. They thank Big Bird for such a smart idea, though he has a new problem: where do you get tickets? | |

SCENE 3 | Maria notices an "OPEN" sign on Oscar's trash can. Oscar encourages Maria from within to open the lid, claiming he has something nice for her to make up for all the nasty things he's done. Curious, Maria warily opens the lid slowly and braces herself for what's about to come. Instead of a trick, Oscar gives her some flowers, some water, and dirt; Maria is shocked when Oscar doesn't make a mess with what he has, instead handing her a bouquet of fresh flowers, a watering can, and a pot of dirt. When he finishes with a love card, Maria can't stand the suspense and leaves. "That is called 'killing with kindness!'" Oscar tells the viewer. | |
