Using the nickname "Bum Steer," he communicates with fellow Grouch "Rotten Egg" about trading some trash. "Rotten Egg" (Jerry Nelson) turns out to be radioing him from right behind his can.

When he starts counting, there's loud thunder, followed by more rain, which causes everyone to seek shelter elsewhere. Big Bird announces the sponsors.
	CLOSING SIGNS	Maria holds the Sesame Street sign, while Susan holds the Children's Television Workshop sign.
