Mopatop opens the episode by offering Simon the Snail, some bread that's stale or a howling gale.
Mopatop notices a small box on the counter, which jumps. At first he thinks that Puppyduck has ordered a jumping box, but it turns out to be a box of jumping fleas. Moosey Mouse warns his parents about the jumping fleas. Moosey has an idea how to get rid of the fleas when Dermot, a dog, comes into the shop. He tells Mopatop that his new owner gives him a bath every day and that means that he never gets a really good scratch. Mopatop and Puppyduck tries to find something that will give Dermot a really good itch; however, they don't seem to be able to find anything that would give a good itch. Meanwhile, Moosey is trying to get them to notice the box with the jumping fleas, so he attempts to convince the fleas to jump. When they finally jump, Mopatop and Puppyduck notice the box and realizes that they are what Dermot needs. However, when Puppyduck opens the box, the fleas refuse to get out of it. Dermot starts to sing a song to convince them, and it helps--the fleas come out of the box and Dermot takes the fleas home with him.
