The Ghost of Faffner Hall
Air Date October 23, 1989
Written by David Angus and Patrick Barlow
Director Tony Kysh
Gofh-e107

Mimi is reading a record book and discovers that a guy just broke a record for playing the longest note on a oboe while dancing on a tightrope. It turns out that the original recordholder was Fughetta Faffner's cousin Finkel who set the record in 1853. Fughetta Faffner tells Mimi and Riff that over the years there's been a long tradition of Faffners setting music records. But she thinks that's over since Farkas Faffner hates music. And the record for playing the longest note on a oboe while dancing on a tightrope, was the last remaining Faffner record. Mimi and Riff decides to carry on the tradition, even though they are not Faffners.

Farkas Faffner has a new idea to make money; he can use the instruments in Faffner Hall as scrap metal. He starts collecting instruments with the Scrap Metal Dealer. In his search for junk he stumbles upon a room full of junk that turns out to be David Sawyer's instruments. In his quest for junk Farkas asks The Wild Impresario to show him something about music, so Wild shows him a tape with The Scottish Chamber Orchestra that demonstrates the instruments they play. While the tape is playing, Farkas takes all the metal in the room including The Wild Impresario's metal armor.

Just as Riff and Mimi are about to give up on the project of setting a new record, Farkas shows everyone his pile of crushed instruments. That pile enables them to set a record in playing crushed Orchestra.

Courtney Pine comes by Faffner Hall as a saxophone door-to-door salesman.
