SCENE 1 | Olivia, Bob, Gordon, and Mr. Hooper are sitting on the steps of 123 Sesame Street when a dog (who would later be established as Barkley) approaches them. His tag features a name beginning with W, but the rest has worn off, so they try out some W names to call him over. The dog doesn't respond to any male names, so Olivia and the others try some female ones.
Oscar the Grouch suggests this could be a grouch hound and tries out some names like Worthless and Washrag. Each time they ask the dog what its name might be, the dog replies, "Woof, Woof!" Bob finally figures it out, and when he calls over "Woof Woof," the dog excitedly approaches, happily rolling around and kissing everyone. | |
